Should Your Locks Be Changed If You’ve Misplaced Your House Keys?

Should Your Locks Be Changed If You’ve Misplaced Your House Keys?

It’s happened to all of us. For one reason or another we end up misplacing our house keys. Usually we can find them quite quickly but at other times they seem to be lost forever. When you feel that you have searched endlessly and really don’t think that you’ll be able to find them, it’s time to call in a locksmith. You’ll need to have access to your house and if you don’t have any spare keys, it really becomes a critical situation.

Lost Key Break-Ins

The odds are very low that a burglar will find your lost key and be able to associate it with your house. Low odds, however, doesn’t mean that you’ll be able to sleep well at night knowing that somebody out there could have found your keys and may know where you live. For that reason, we suggest either rekeying your lock or purchasing new locks for your door for your own peace of mind.

As an added note, it’s never a good idea to have identifying information attached to your keychain. If you did have any type of identifying data on your keychain, you’ll definitely need to get new locks or have your current locks rekeyed to prevent a burglary.
